関連サービスまで使う日本のTwitterユーザーは推定3,615,600人
Twilog 開発者の @ropross（食肉目レッサーパンダ科レッサーパンダ属）がおもしろい数字をつぶやいてましたので並べていきたいと思います。
現在のTwitterのユーザーIDの最大値は約2億6200万。これまでに約2億6200万のアカウントが作られたってこと

その約2億6200万のアカウントのうち、現在も存在しているのは約84%。つまり約16%のアカウントは削除したか停止されているロプロス

そして、現在も存在するTwitterアカウントのうち、ツイートを非公開にしているのは約7.4%ロプロス

そして、約2億6200万アカウントのうち、3日以内に1件でもツイートしたことのあるアカウントは約6%（ツイート非公開ユーザーは除外して計算）。つまり、全世界でのTwitterのアクティブユーザー数（3日）は、わずか1600万程度ってことになるロプロス

数字をまとめる
ツイート貼っただけだと見にくいと思いますので、まず使う数字を拾ってきます…と言っても2つだけですが。アクティブユーザーの定義は @ropross がつぶやいてたまんまです。
- 全世界の Twitter アカウント: 262,000,000
- アクティブユーザーの割合: 6%
全世界のアクティブユーザーは 262,000,000 * 0.06 = 15,720,000 アカウントです。
これで日本のアカウント数が分かればざっくりとした数字が出せるのですが、そういった便利なものは公開されていないようですし、@ropross はどの数字を元に計算したのかつぶやいていませんでしたので、Twitterが国別のトラフィックを公開–米国が4割を占め1位、日本は2位に – CNET Japan のトラフィック比を当てはめてみることにしました。
これによると日本のトラフィックは全体の23%（60%の39%）です。単純に当てはめると日本のアカウント数は 262,000,000 * 0.23 = 60,260,000 となります。ちょっと多いような気もしますが、他に使えそうな数字を知りませんのでこのまま話を進めます。
アクティブユーザーは 6% ですので日本のアクティブユーザーは 60,260,000 * 0.06 = 3,615,600 アカウントと推定できます。
まあトラフィック比≠ユーザー比ですのでぶっちゃけかなり適当な数字ですが、ウェブサービス作る時の参考値としてはそれなりに使えるんじゃないでしょうか。
誤差を考慮に入れる
@ropross は標本にするユーザー数をわりと適当に 10,000 に決めたようですが、標本数 10,000 ですと 95% の信頼水準で誤差 ±0.98% 以内です。
262,000,000 アカウントの 0.98% は 2,567,600 ですので、全世界のアクティブユーザーは 15,720,000±2,567,600 で 13,152,400 から 18,287,600 アカウントとなります。
日本のアクティブユーザーは 3,615,600±2,567,600 で 1,048,000 から 6,183,200 アカウントとなりますので、ちょっと誤差が大きいように思います。
標本数を 1,000,000 にすると誤差は ±0.098% 以内となります。±254,140 ですので日本のアクティブユーザーを求める際にも許容できる誤差かと思います。なんでまあ暇だったら多めにデータ取ってみてください。
